Manacles of Righteous Fury (Egil)

Not as neat and fleshed out as it could be, but for now I just want a copy saved rather than have to find the post that has it in every time.

 

Story-wise, I'd like the bracers to be the manacles Egil once wore as a slave. He ripped the chains apart in the break out but has worn the bands ever since as a permanent reminder of what was done to him. So filled with rage and fury by his captivity was he that this anger actually seeped into the metal and turned the once ordinary manacles into a powerful magical item, and gave birth to a furious spirit deep that now seethes within the metal, waiting, interminably waiting.....

 

... and then ...

 

 

So, the slave revolt is gonna be the history for the Least Ritual, and then I'd like to leave the other rituals for later and base them off of whatever heroic deeds Egil happens to be performing at the time.

 

Will get some posts on the off-stage about the slave revolt, just right now the narrative isn't quite "popping" in my head, so just the mechanics for now:

Nonlegacy game statistics: Armbands of Might (MIC p. 72); Cost 4,100 gp; Weight 2 lb.

Omen: In the heat of battle, as the adrenaline rushes through the wielders veins, a small amount of blood seeps out from beneath the bands.

 

Using Table 4-2 for penalties.

 

Costs: Least 1500, Lesser 13000, Greater 40000.

Design Notes:

Cornered Animal = identical to Warrior’s Surge (MIC p. 177).

 

 

Feral Savagery = choose one weapon with which you are proficient, you gain the Improved Critical feat for this weapon whenever you are wearing the manacles. Hard to say how to value this one, but compared to Spiderclimb (a B ability) and the Martial Stance (Dance of the Spider) feat it seems a good feat is a B ability, and I’d say in prerq terms Imp Crit and a 3rd level stance are roughly equivalent (arguably the prereq Shadow Hand maneuver is harder to get). Plus, I’m just sticking it at the level where I get BAB +8 tbh.

 

 

Awaken the Fury = Major Intelligent Legacy. 2 x Greater Powers = haste on owner 3/day, fear on foes 3/day, as per DMG.

 

 

Ferocity of Sanguine Rage = 3rd level spell from Dragon Magic. Since Cure Serious Wounds 3/day is a D ability, it seems appropriate to swap for another 3rd level spell. Also, the absence of a scaling CL means the morale bonus stays at “only” +5, but it will still stack nicely with Greater Heroism at high levels.

 

 

Greater Heroism = Heal 1/day is a G ability, so a different 6th level spell as a G ability seems about right. It’s not like Heal is a bad spell after all.

 

 

Rest are either out of the book or are maneuvers based on Mittens’ criteria. Re Pouncing Strike, since the maneuver is a full-round action it can’t be used with Cometary Collision. It’s still pwoerful, but that is a limiting factor to consider.
