Of course ZarZak doesn't have elf ears and weird cat eye pupils, but other than that its good (hair should be shorter though; military crew cut. Ah well). Even the armor color is correct :) (looks like mithril to me!))

Character Notes:

Rainbow Servant is 10/10 casting

Equipment:

Mithril Chain Shirt = 1,100 GP (includes masterwork costs)

Mithril Light Steel Shield = 1,009 GP (includes masterwork costs)

Masterwork Heavy Mace = 1-handed – 312 GP

Ring of Prestidigitation (custom item) = 900 GP

Total Left: 1879 – buy some potions; misc. equipment + 100 GP starting funds = 1979 GP

^--- am also buying a Masterwork Sickle for a spell ... I may replace the mace with sickle, haven't decided yet. For the moment ZarZak will have both.

Buy a bedroll after getting a +STR item so can carry it

Buy a Rod of Surprises (MIC 58) when have 6000 GP

Raiment of the Four - all four pieces will be useful (is 19,100 total)

Deathguardian Bracers (MIC)?

Deity ZarZak will worship:

Mielikki (NG) or Kelemvor (LN)

Languages:

Common

Chondathon (automatic regional language)

Draconic

Netherese

Loross (Netherese nobel tongue)

Elven

Dwarven

Seldruin

Skills Ranks (lvl 4):

Spellcraft - 7

Knowledge (Arcana) - 7

Knowledge (History) - 7

Concentration - 7

Disguise - 7

Speak Language (cc) - 2

Intimidate - 3

Need 4 ranks in Knowledge (Religion) - buy them in frostmage @ lvl 6

Strategy:

Pretty simple: Snowcasting + eschew materials makes all spells cold-subtyped (cold spells gain +1 CL). Draconic Aura increases the DC for cold spells ... and thats that. Will use cold spells when possible due to the increased CL. Eventually all cold (cold) spells will have +2 CL, +4 DC; all normal (cold) spells with have +1 CL, +4 DC. Later on when full cleric casting becomes available will become more than just a blaster/damage dealer - will also be a great healer/buffer.

Armored Mage + Frost Mage natural armor bonuses mean that ZarZak isn't ridiculously easy to hit, so he can survive (briefly) in melee if need be (say for touch attacks).

Brief Spell Descriptions

Eventual Magic Items: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fw/20030627a for Cloak of the Couatl and Ring of Exploration

Rainbow Servant says that eventually high level rainbow servants are granted a special "Feathered Cape of the Couatls". While there is no such item in D&D, I think that the Cloak of the Couatl from the web expansion listed above is a good substitute. So I will be gunning for that. In addition, the Ring of Exploration looks very nice, so I'll be trying for that as well. You'll notice no bags of holding really; that is b/c weird stuff can happen with them in a mordenkainen's magnificent mansion.

Besides those two items the rest of my "dream gear" is pretty standard stuff. Enhanced armor, lots of stat boosters, and armor boosters. I want to utilize the magic item compendium rules for adding bonuses onto existing gear; just makes thing easier, in my opinion.

I would like to eventually buy a custom magic item; somethin that will cast Phantom Stag a few times a day @ CL 20th. I love Phantom Steed; its a great spell, and Phantom Stag is just a bit better. I'd also like to be able to cast Frostfell and other spells from Frostburn somehow ... maybe somehow I can buy a runestaff that will work for warmage? Not so important though.

Eventual Magic Items: 760,000 GP Total: 709,309

Head: Hat of Disguise (1800) +6 INT Enhancement Bonus (36,000) = 37,000

Throat: Amulet of Natural Armor +5 (50,000) +6 CON Enh. Bonus (36,000) = 86,000

Shoulders: Cloak of the Couatl; 120,000 GP (+20,000 GP + 20,000 GP) = 160,000 GP (for two +4 ‡ +6 enhancements); +5 Saving Throw = +25,000; TOTAL = 185,000 GP

Body: +5 Mithril Heavy Fortification Chain Shirt (1100 GP + 100,000 GP) = 101,100; +5 Deflection enhancement (50,000 GP) = 151,100 GP

Hands: Gloves of Dexterity +6; 36,000 GP

Waist: Belt of the Wide Earth; 8,000 GP

Ring 1: Ring of Exploration; 41,000 GP

Ring 2: Ring of Prestidigitation (custom item); 900 GP

Main Hand: Heavy Mace/Fauchard

Off Hand: +5 Mithril Light Steel Shield (1009 GP + 25,000 GP) = 26,009 GP

Misc: +5 INT Tome (137,500)

Make a custom magic item: Phantom Stag a few times a day CL 20th; Shivering Touch and other frostburn spells (Frostfell?)

- put the ability from "Robe of Mysterious Conjuration (MIC)" onto my armor?

- Get a Scarab of Invulnerability?

- Shirt of the Fey or Shirt of the Moon?

- Vest of the Master Evoker?

- Instead of a standard weapon, get the Rod of Surprises (MIC 58)

Cloak of the Couatl: The cloak of the couatl is made from the shed feathers and scales of couatls and empowered with potent magical defenses to infuse its wearer with many of the couatl's qualities. The benign power of this cloak works only for good-aligned creatures that wear it; it simply doesn't work for neutrally aligned wearers. Evil wearers suffer one negative level for as long as the cloak is worn. This negative level cannot be removed without removing the cloak, but it never results in a permanent level loss.

When worn by a good creature, the cloak grants a +4 enhancement bonus to the wearer's Wisdom and Charisma. The wearer gains a +4 competence bonus on all Knowledge (arcana), Knowledge (history), and Knowledge (nature) checks and may make these as untrained skill checks. The wearer can also use the following spell-like abilities once per day: invisibility, ethereal jaunt, and polymorph self. Finally, the wearer can use detect thoughts at will. The wearer can send a telepathic message to anyone whose surface thoughts she is reading (allowing two-way communication).

Caster Level: 13th; Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, 5 ranks in Knowledge (arcana), Knowledge (history), Knowledge (nature), detect thoughts, ethereal jaunt, invisibility, polymorph self; Market Price: 120,000 gp; Weight: 1 lb.

Ring of Exploration: This plain bronze ring is highly valued by anyone who explores the far corners of the world, but they are especially useful for those who seek to penetrate jungle interiors since they protect from disease and poison as well as solve the problem of passing through dense undergrowth.

The wearer of a ring of exploration remains at a comfortable temperature during the most extreme weather conditions, as if he had endure elements (cold) and endure elements (fire) cast on her (negating 5 points of cold and fire damage per round).

The ring also continually provides its wearer with life-sustaining nourishment exactly as does a ring of sustenance.

The ring grants the woodland stride ability to its wearer, allowing the wearer to pass through natural thorns, briars, overgrown areas, and similar terrain (as long as it's not magically manipulated) at her normal speed without suffering damage or other impairment.

Finally, the wearer constantly knows what direction north lies in and can unerringly retrace her steps back to the exact point at which she last put on the ring, with no chance of becoming lost.

Caster Level: 7th; Prerequisites: Forge Ring, create foodandwater, endure elements, freedom of movement, know direction; Market Price: 41,000 gp.

Brief History:

Name: ZarZak d'Lynthis

Race: Silverbrow Human Alignment: LG (LN) Age: 30 Class: Warmage 4

Description: Tall (6 foot 4 inches) and leanly muscled like a runner; 150 lb. Silver hair, green eyes. Very sharply defined features. Seems to have a permanent thoughtful look on his face, though his eyes are penetrating and cold.

ZarZak was born into a clan of silverbrow humans who'd moved to Silverymoon near its founding, drawn by the principles of acceptance and diversity the city advertised. Striving to make themselves useful to the community the clan became ardent supporters of the city and helped fill the ranks of the Knights in Silver and Spellguard.

Born into a martial tradition, ZarZak joined the Spellguard as soon as he was old enough. He spent years training and honing his skills with that elite military unit, finding himself highly attuned the elemental forces of cold (whether due to the Silverymoon being located in the cold north, or due to his silver dragon heritage he could not say).

Having advanced to the rank of captain (think US Army equivalent; above lieutenant, below major) ZarZak decided to leave the ranks of the Spellguard in order to explore Faerun. It was not a decision taken lightly, but he wanted to see things before he died, and that was not something he would be able to do in the Spellguard.

ZarZak was able to secure an honorable discharge due to his excellent service record and family connections. With that part of his life behind him, ZarZak looks forward to exploring and learning about the great land of Faerun.

ZarZak, besides his military heritage, is somewhat of a history buff (he is especially interested in the ancient civilizations of Netheril, Imaskar, Illefarn, and Miyeritar). Part of the reason he wants to explore Faerun is to see the sights he has read about, and to do historical research of his own. ZarZak has long been interested in the ancient magical empires, especially Netheril, for personal and professional reasons, and focuses his historical studies on those. A career officer in personality, he is fastidious in his personal habits and is exceedingly polite and well-mannered. Unfortunately, he is also emotionally cold and supremely logical - traits that served him well in the Spellguard (though did not endear him to his subordinates), but cause him some trouble in civilian life.

His one small joy is that he is fascinated by color, and delights in colorful trinkets, gems, rainbows, fall foliage, etc. He usually keeps at least a prism on his person at all times.

ZarZak's Ring of Prestidigitation is a family heirloom, given to him by his father when he became an adult:

Ring of Prestidigitation: Custom Item; Faint aura; CL 2nd: This fanciful silver ring is decorated with glass gems of all colors around its length. Enables the wearer to use the spell Prestidigitation at will.

Well since he has draconic heritage he could have the weird pupils and pointy ears. I mean, that kind of thing messes with you a little.

I can see the pupils happening maybe, but dragons don't have pointy ears! Do they have holes or sort of floppy ears ... oh D&D genetics, why are you so ... nonsensical.

Hehe.

Hey... I was thinking since we are both sporting the HOT mithril chain shirt, maybe we got them from the same place? They don't just drop those on the street.... ya gotta EARN them. so I think that is a logical connection for us... two armoured slingers.

I was thinking that ZarZak's mithril gear would be from the Spellguard; color scheme and crunch and everything fits

yeah. that makes sense.

I'm tryin to get to a point where it makes sense for us to die for each other.

so zarz has left the military... what's he up to these days?

Well, after he left the military he started traveling to study historical sites and such; he could easily have met the any/all members of the group through that (there are so many sites of historical interest in Faerun, everyone must have connection to at least something)
